For the first project in my 3rd year I created a display of deep sea specimens in jars. They were made from materials such as silicone, magic sculpt, sculpey, fast cast and clear cast resins. The idea was that they looked as though they were on a ship, although for my degree show I kept it much simpler and put them all on tiered shelves.

 

The specimens were surprisingly much more successful after a few months left standing. The silicone changed colour ever so slightly, and the water became thicker and a little cloudier. This created a much more effective look for my degree show.

 

I have recently sold some of the specimens to Bob Thorne at Artem, hopefully for use in the upcoming Gulliver's Travels movie being filmed al the moment.
